We Are Not Numbers provides publication opportunities to young Palestinian writers and journalists in Gaza. Their recently published anthology, We Are Not Numbers: The Voices of Gaza’s Youth, illuminates the stories of young people living under Israeli blockade from 2015 to today’s ongoing genocide.
About We Are Not Numbers
AFSC has committed to donating the proceeds of the Displaced in Gaza book to We are Not Numbers, an organization that provides English-language writing and editing trainings, as well as publication opportunities, for young Palestinian writers and journalists, especially in Gaza. The group published its first anthology, We Are Not Numbers: The Voices of Gaza’s Youth in April of this year, including stories from the organization’s founding in 2015 up to today’s ongoing genocide. The book is available to order here. We Are Not Numbers also publishes stories on its website where they are available for free.
Our colleague Ahmed Alnaouq, director and co-founder of We Are Not Numbers, has been published in New Arab and interviewed in The Guardian. Alnaouq’s work and the work of We Are Not Numbers is critical to humanizing the numbing, overwhelming figures leaving Gaza and building empathy and awareness for Gaza in English-language publishing. As hard as the Israeli government works to silence Gaza’s voices, we must work harder to make them heard. Share Palestinian stories and voices speaking out from Gaza, available both through We Are Not Numbers and two books by AFSC, Light in Gaza (2022) and Displaced in Gaza (2025).
