Weekly summary of the War on Gaza, January 31

- About 500,000 Palestinians displaced in southern Gaza were able to return to Gaza City and northern Gaza after a two-day delay by the Israeli government.
- During the first 10 days of the first phase of the ceasefire, a dozen Israeli hostages were released, along with five Thai workers, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. The releases took place on January 19, 24, and 30.
- A Palestinian from Al-Nuseirat and another from Rafah were killed by Israeli fire during the second phase of the first phase of the ceasefire.
- Hundreds of bodies and remains of Palestinians were uncovered across the Gaza Strip as the ceasefire took effect.
- Palestinian Bashar Issa Al-Rabayia was killed by Israeli fire at the entrance of Al-Nuseirat as thousands of Palestinians gathered to return to the north.
- Most bodies were uncovered around the Netzarim Corridor and in Rafah City, which became death traps for Palestinians.
