Weekly summary of the War on Gaza, August 9
- Israel has ordered Palestinians south of Khan Younis to evacuate again. In the north of Gaza, an evacuation order was issued, but Palestinians there refused to move again, as they got tired of constantly moving over the past 10 months.
- The Israeli forces have targeted 172 shelters since the outbreak of the war, including 152 UNRWA shelters, government and private schools inhabited by IDPs, and the number Palestinians killed has exceeded 1040 martyrs.
- Hamama school was targeted twice in Gaza City, which caused the killing of 17 Palestinians, and injuring dozens of others in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.
- In Al-Nasser neighborhood in Gaza city, Israeli forces targeted the Hassan Salama school, killing 6 Palestinians and injuring dozens of others.
- In Deir Al-Balah, Israeli forces targeted a home located in the midst of tents, killing 7 Palestinians and injuring many others. Dozens of tents were burnt. In the same town, Israeli forces targeted tents at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, killing five more Palestinians.
- Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that “blocking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is justified and moral,” even if this results in starving two million civilians, noting that “the international community won’t allow that to happen.”
- WHO said it will send one million polio vaccines to Gaza to protect children.
- According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, 39,699 Palestinians were killed since October 7, while 91,722 were injured.
