The stories linked below provide glimpses into the lives of four young people currently living in Gaza.  These stories were gathered by interns working in AFSC’s Gaza office through interviews with their peers, and they provide a glimpse of what it is like to be a young person in Gaza today.

While Gaza is regularly spoken about in the media, the people of Gaza are usually obscured while attention is focused on politics and violence.  Outside of Palestine the lives of Palestinians living under Israeli blockade and occupation, their struggles, mundane realities, and dreams are not seen or understood.  Yet these are the people whose stories we must hear to understand what must change in Gaza and all of Palestine if a different future is going to be realized.

The Gaza Unlocked Campaign began in large part in response to pleas from our friends, colleagues, and partners in Gaza who asked that we share their stories with the world, not by presenting them as victims but as average people who share the same aspirations, loves, and hurts as people in any other part of the world.

Please take a moment to read these stories and then join us in taking action to demand an end to the blockade, Israel’s occupation, and inequality in Palestine and Israel.
