Weekly summary of the War on Gaza, August 16
- Israeli forces targeted Al-Tabeen school, which had been turned into a shelter. The airstrike killed at least 110 Palestinians, and many of them had their bodies torn into pieces. The Israeli military says it targeted militants, but local witnesses said three missiles targeted worshipers and that many people faced difficulty recognizing their loved ones.
- Palestinians who had adults missing got 70 (154 pounds) kilograms to bury. Those who had children missing got 18 (39.68 pounds) kilograms of flesh to bury.
- The attack on Al-Tabeen school was one in a series of attacks that took place this week on shelters and schools, killing hundreds of Palestinians.
- The Euro-Med for Human Rights Monitor published the names of people Israel said were killed in the airstrike that were actually killed two days earlier.
- The number of Palestinians killed by Israel reached 40,000, not including 10,000 still missing under the rubble of their homes, 51.4% of them are women and children.
- The Israeli military asked Palestinians south of Khan Younis to move to the west of the city yet again.
- 10 Palestinians from the Abu Nada family were killed after an Israeli airstrike targeted their home in Al-Nusierat refugee camp.
- 885 doctors and nurses, 168 journalists and media professionals, 79 civil defense officers, 100 scientists, thinkers and university professors, 9,000 male and female students, and 500 male and female teachers were killed in Gaza, according to Aljazeera.
- Israeli Internal Security Minister, Itmar Ben Gvir, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and so did about 3,000 Israeli settlers in order to mark the destruction of the temple. Netanyahu’s office has reported given the green light for the visit to take place.
- Residents of Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis neighborhoods ordered to evacuate 'humanitarian safe zones.' Evacuation orders will result in the shutdown of 10 water wells and two main water tanks.
- The United States approved five potential Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases worth approximately $20.3 billion for the Government of Israel.
